HE Čakovec

Run-of-river derivation plant on the Drava, reservoir 10.5 km2 / 51.6 hm3. 2 main units (A 38MW + B 38MW -- HEP's own text calls them tubular/bulb turbines, the technical-data table says "4 Kaplan", a discrepancy left unresolved here) plus 2 small ABM units C (1.1MW) and D (0.34MW, added 1993) -- aggregated per this project's composite-plant convention. 8 m3/s biological minimum. Average annual production ~350 GWh (max 512 GWh in 2014, min 255 GWh in 1983). Part of PP HE Sjever. Coordinates are a town-level estimate (Orehovica), not plant-exact. HISTORY (source: D. Rezek, "Hidroelektrane na Dravi", GRAĐEVINAR 55 (2003) 11, 647-653): second of the three-plant Drava cascade. Its planning-approval process was genuinely contentious — took years of political wrangling over "planski status" before construction could even begin, with a dedicated Action Committee (chaired by the Čakovec municipal assembly president) coordinating ministries, investment funds, and contractors. Once cleared, construction company Ingra built it in just 4 years, ahead of schedule — a result the article calls "respectable even by world standards" for this class of energy infrastructure. Per the article's own figures: ~500 m³/s installed flow, ~75-76 MW at generator terminals, ~400 GWh average annual production. Over its first 20 years of operation, the plant generated a cumulative 7 billion kWh.
